What a joy it was to have Dr. Michael Chan with us last weekend. We are so very fortunate that great theologians and teachers like Dr. Chan visit TLC every year. I am already working on our guest lecturer for 2017.
Dr. Chan shared with us that he is in different congregations teaching about three Sundays a month. He continued to say that what he observed at TLC, he is not seeing anywhere else. It is not really about numbers. Certainly he visits churches in the Twin Cities and the Southwest that have thousands of people in worship. What he experienced at TLC was an amazing community that is unique in the ELCA.
Trinity is a place where sinners gather to share their life journey, to praise God, to serve others, and to drink coffee. Trinity is a place of honest joy and sorrow. Every Sunday people laugh and cry here. Before worship there is a buzz in the sanctuary — the buzz of God’s people reconnecting with hugs, handshakes, and high fives.
Mine is the Church where everybody’s WELCOME! We don’t just say that — we mean it. We don’t care how you vote. We don’t care if you are liberal or conservative. If your past is checkered, and your pathway is damp with your salty tears, then TLC is the place for you. We do not expect to agree on everything, and we do not expect you to fall in line with our church teachings.
Since 1988 worship attendance in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America ELCA has experienced a steep decline! In fact, worship attendance has fallen by 38%. In that same time frame worship attendance at TLC has increased by 1000%. Something special is happening here, and you are a part of it. Something special is happening here and God has trusted us to care for the ministry of this place. Blessed to be a Blessing! Mine is the Church where everybody’s welcome! Put yourself in the path of the Gospel.
This Sunday at TLC the miracle will continue as we will be giving away lots of checks. We will be giving away $30,000 to local, national, and international causes. So Come Home to TLC this Sunday! Come Home and join the party!
