A Note from Pastor Jim – August 31, 2016
I am sitting in my office on a Wednesday morning and something very strange is happening outside. It is raining. We have not had a lot of rain lately. It is a sign of the changing seasons. August 2016 is about to be in the history books. The calendar will soon turn to September.
September means Rally Day, the M Bar C Church Picnic, Sunday School, public school, the Seahawks will begin the regular season, and hopefully the Cubs will continue their march to the World Series.
I am sitting in my office on a Wednesday morning as the daily routine unfolds outside my window. Shipbuilders from Nichols Brothers park in our lot. Every morning they park here and are shuttled to the Boatyard. They are dressed for another day of labor.
Across this great country of ours this scene is repeated every day. Faithful workers serve us in a variety of ways. Ferry Workers don their uniforms, airline pilots and nurses, soldiers and teachers, construction workers, and garbage collectors.
This Sunday as you come to worship, I would invite you to wear the uniform of your labor. Let’s celebrate the loving and faithful service of our laborers. Retired? If the uniform still fits, wear it.
I am sitting in my office on a Wednesday morning — I had better get back to that sermon.
Thanks for sharing the journey with me. I remain your…
