Today’s Word from Minister of Music Karl Olsen…
Happy Easter Monday!
I hope your Easter celebrations were filled with connections near and far yesterday.
I know we talked with folks all over the country, sharing joy and news with those we love. So nice to hear their voices, even if we couldn’t give them hugs in person.
It was a glorious morning, and although the roads were mostly empty, and most of you were safely nestled in your COVID-free homes, your TLC Sanctuary was not silent yesterday as Jesus was discovered to have escaped the grave! The candles were lit and the organ was warmed up as I played Jesus Christ is Risen Today at 7:10 am. It was just in time for the crowd to file in from the courtyard, after the opening reading and call to worship!
But, in good isolating behavior, I played to an empty house! No one walked in. Thanks for staying home and staying safe! We hope it will end soon, but this isolating is what we have to do for now! Since you weren’t there, I, as they say, pulled out all the stops! That’s where that phrase comes from! It was loud, so maybe, just maybe you could hear me from home!
Soon enough, Sheila will be back on the bench and the choir will be in their spots, with the bell choir waiting in the wings, live music will be ringing in Trinity once again. But for now, since we couldn’t meet together, I had some choir members literally record and phone their parts in to me (while listening to Sheila’s piano part), and with our son Kaj’s help, we created an Easter song! You know the phrase…”it’s not live, it’s Memorex!” Sort of!
Choir participants in this adventure were Sheila Weidendorf, Barb Bennett, Kathy Parks, Ravyn Canty, Marcie Bovetz, Kathy Borson, Jan Wright, Jack Kniseley, Dale Einwalter, Dwight Smith, Nick Borson, and Ron Myers
Rejoice! Enjoy this Easter Song about the stone being rolled away, and hopefully, we’ll hear from you soon! Stay safe, keep being the people of God in your places! Until we meet again…He Is Risen!!!
