Dear TLC Friends,
1 Corinthians 13:13 has a message for us: “Right now three things remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” For us, right now, love is an empty church. This is not easy for any of us to accept. We are reminded that Jesus did not promise us the easy path; he just told us to love one another with faith and hope.
In this season of pandemic, when lives have been affected throughout the entire world, we, the congregation of TLC, receive the extraordinary blessings of intelligent, creative, and talented leadership from the dedicated ministry of our staff at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland, Washington. They have been the good stewards of valuable resources, which include us, the people of TLC.
As your church council, we represent you in overseeing the workings of our church. With unanimous and full-hearted agreement, we support the leadership of our core staff members. We, who thrive on our in-person contacts, the hugs, the singing, the rituals, the gatherings for joy or sorrow celebrated as a community, express our sincere appreciation of the outstanding efforts, the sacrifices, and the difficult decisions made on our behalf to find new and creative paths to lead us through this time of physical separation.
We commend the courageous and intelligent choices made to prevent the spread of Covid-19 within our congregation. We deeply appreciate the alternative services provided to us through physically-distanced procedures, social media, and technology.
We will be together again someday. We remember that this too shall pass. For now, we wait with grateful and loving hearts.
