January 8 – Sermon on the Mount, Part 1

Part one of a 3-part series. The group is invited to share in reading aloud the Sermon on the Mount, including the Beatitudes, followed by comments and discussion facilitated by our own Pastor Dennis Hanson, who will never be allowed to fully retire.

January 15 – Sharon Magnuson with ELCA World Hunger  & Disaster Response

“Lutheran Disaster Response shares God’s hope, healing and renewal with people whose lives have been disrupted by disasters in the United States and around the world. When the dust settles and the headlines change, we stay to provide ongoing assistance to those in need.”

January 22 – Sermon on the Mount, Part 2

Video teaching by theologian NT Wright, followed by group comments and discussion. Wright is a respected scholar and theologian.

January 29 – Sermon on the Mount, Part 3

We will watch a video titled, “Beatitudes Are Not for the Blessed,” a talk by Inez Velasquez-McBryde, pastor, reconciler, and speaker. Here we focus more on issues of justice, freedom, and liberty.

 

February 5 – The Lord’s Prayer, Part 1

NT Wright on video offers insights into the context and meaning of the Lord and His Prayer.

February 12 – Bethany of the Northwest

Pastor Todd Wright, Director of Pastoral Care, shares “What’s New with Bethany of the Northwest.”

February 19 – El Camino de Santiago!

Carol and Alan Heimgartner walked 400 miles on their recent pilgrimage. Alan identifies as older, and Carol identifies as 74. Come be inspired and informed.

February 26 – The Lord’s Prayer, Part 2

We delve further into what else is said about the Lord’s Prayer. We will reference Neil Douglas-Klotz (or whoever you might bring to the table), taking a look at the Aramaic meanings and possibilities of translation, as well as taking time to write your own personal version.

 

March 5 – Surprised by Hope

Rethinking Heaven, the Resurrection and the Mission of the Church, a 3-part video series by NT Wright, top-selling author and Anglican Bishop. Always followed by group comments and discussion.

March 26 – Sacred Music
