Ask One Of Our Pastors…

Do you have a question about God, Jesus, faith, forgiveness, the Bible, the church… or any other faith-related matter?

Or perhaps you have questions about how to live a more intentional Christian life… Or questions about what to do when faith seems elusive, or you’ve forgotten how to pray.

Submit your question here, to the webpage administrator, and she will send it on to one or more of Trinity’s pastors for a response, then post it on this page when answered.

Please be patient, it may take a few days or longer. Your name will not be used, (a pseudonym like “Sleepless on South Whidbey” or some-such name will be used), but if it is a question of a personal or easily identifiable personal matter, then please make an appointment and come in to talk with one of our pastors.

Please note that this is not a forum for controversy, nor is it suited for topics requiring lengthy explanations. It’s just a way to ask what’s on your mind, and to receive some answers which may be beneficial to you and the larger faith community.  This is an experiment. Let’s see where it takes us.

Question #5

“With so many religions and denominations within religions, do you think it matters to God how ‘correct’ our theology is?  Does it really matter what we believe so long as we love God and love our neighbor as ourselves?”  – Somewhat Confused

Question #4

“I often don’t know what to say that will be comforting to a person who I know is terminally ill. I tend to avoid anything about mentioning the fact that they have a short time left on this earth.

Secondly, I am little better at memorial services with the family after a death. Do you have some advice on what would be most helpful in situations like these?”–Wondering What To Say

Question #3

If we are living a New Testament Christian life …how are we to take the Old Testament when we are reading it?

Is the Old Testament merely background history for us now? Do we need to read it as to how to live our lives as Christians?

Thank you and bless you. – Perplexed

Question #2

This is directed to Pastor Jerry: When you love someone so deeply…and you want your prayers to really reach them when they are facing difficult times, how would I pray with the feeling that these prayers to Jesus–to God–will be far reaching to my mother in her time of need. (My mother wouldn’t ask me to pray for her, nor would she perhaps want me to pray with her.)  Please guide me deeper into my prayer ability. Thank you. — Faithful on Whidbey

Question #1

What role does the Holy Spirit play in our lives? Has the Spirit always been in this world, or was it only bestowed by Jesus as He was leaving this world to return to heaven?

– Just Wondering
